It’s not surprising that many patients with health problems eventually turn to chiropractic because their previous doctors have said “nothing more can be done” or “you’ll have to learn to live with it.” Most people find such conclusions unacceptable and thus many find their way to a chiropractic doctor for diagnosis and treatment in a last ditch effort to regain lost health.

DIAGNOSIS MORE THAN A NAME
That’s the usual first step in conquering illness—the diagnosis—discovering what is wrong and the cause, if possible. In the past, though, non-chiropractic doctors often would merely put a name on the patient’s symptoms without reference to cause. Thus, a person suffering frequent headache might learn the name of the condition from the doctor—migraine or cluster or common or vascular headache—but seldom hear the cause. That was the extent of the diagnosis and the doctor treated the symptoms only—a treatment form called palliative which means “serving to relieve without curing.”

Today, however, we expect all doctors to determine (if they can) the cause of the problem as well as the most appropriate treatment, then advise us accordingly.

If you’ve been told “you’ll have to learn to live with it,” try chiropractic.
Try-Chiropractic-First
TREAT SYMPTOMS ONLY
Regrettably, doctors unfamiliar with chiropractic methods often fail to recognize the Try Chiropractic First underlying cause, particularly if it is neuro-musculoskeletal in nature and involves misaligned vertebras. Then, too many patients end up with palliative treatment, but no cure.

It may be too harsh to say it is a misdiagnosis if the cause is left out, yet such a diagnosis at best is incomplete. And an incomplete diagnosis—one not including the cause—usually means that only the symptoms are treated. This often fails to provide significant or lasting results and ultimately sends the patient to the chiropractic doctor as a last resort.

Indeed, during the course of each year, millions of Americans go to chiropractic doctors for diagnosis and treatment of their illnesses and injuries—many after other methods have been found wanting.

TRUE CAUSE OFTEN PINCHED NERVES
In many such cases, chiropractic doctors discover misaligned spinal bones (vertebras) are interfering with normal transmission of nerve impulses to certain organs, glands, and body parts—a phenomenon commonly called pinched nerves—which often is the underlying cause of pain and disease conditions, not only in the spine and back, but elsewhere in the body as well.

Millions have been told that “nothing more can be done,” only to discover after a thorough chiropractic examination that they have been victims of an incomplete or misdiagnosis. But a chiropractic exam often reveals the true cause of health problems after other methods have failed.

CHIROPRACTIC FIRST
That’s why it’s important to try chiropractic first.
