Almost any ongoing, repetitive irritation, stress, strain, sprain, physical tension, prolonged tautness, or pressure can produce an overuse injury to any  involved part of  the body.

A repetitive activity as simple as painting walls or ceilings can bring on overuse injury. Such injuries are called bursitis, tendinitis, myositis and other inflammations depending on the tissues involved.

OVERUSE INJURIES PAINFUL
Such injuries come across surprisingly painful, tenacious, crippling and sometimes resistant to treatment. That’s why chiropractic doctors worry about those of  us who repeatedly put our mobility and musculoskeletal health in jeopardy through high-intensity, ongoing, repetitive motions while at play or work.

WORK AND SPORTS BRING ON INJURIES
Though an astonishing number of exercise and sports-related overuse injuries occur every day to aerobic exercisers, gymnasts, joggers, swimmers, tennis players, bowlers and other energetic sports persons, work generates numerous overuse injuries, too.

Early on, if the activity causing the irritation and inflammation is halted soon enough, the body’s healing power will usually bring the tissue back to its normal pain-free state. But if the repetitive activity causing the inflammation and pain continues unabated, genuine overuse injury is bound to come and may require chiropractic care.

CHIROPRACTIC EXAM, CARE AND ADVICE
Overuse injuries call for a chiropractic examination and evaluation before they become major. Once an overuse injury becomes entrenched, it often requires far more treatment than had it been diagnosed and treated “early in the game.”

Often, too, the chiropractic doctor can suggest how a minor change in the intensity, frequency and technique of the injury-causing activity will help avoid future overuse injury.
