A number of studies validating chiropractic have made their way into the scientific literature in recent years. Indeed, chiropractic treatment is becoming one of the most validated healing methods due to scientific studies tracking its effectiveness. Such studies are of particular interest to any one in doubt about the efficacy of chiropractic care.

 

CHIROPRACTIC PROOF
• A Gallup Poll revealed…
#1 — 90% of chiropractic patients questioned said their chiropractic treatment was effective.
#2 — 80% were satisfied.
#3 — 75% said most of their expectations were met.

 

• A 1992 Study…of more than two million chiropractic patients revealed:
#1 — Chiropractic users tend to have substantially lower total health care costs.
#2 — Chiropractic care reduces the use of medical physician and hospital care.

 

• Saskatchewan Clinical Research… a 1993 study, found: “The treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc hemiation by side posture manipulation is both safe and effective.”
• Stano Cost Comparison Study… report on 395,641 patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions concluded that costs were significantly lower for chiropractic patients than for medical or osteopathic patients.

 

• Patient Disability Comparison… This important 1992 study found that the number of days of disability for patients treated by family medical physicians was nearly four times more than those treated by chiropractic doctors. The medical mean was 39.7 days lost compared with the chiropractic mean of 10.8 days lost.

 

• Utah Workers’ Compensation Study… Reported in 1991; this study revealed:
#1 — Medical costs were significantly higher than chiropractic costs for conditions with identical diagnostic codes.
#2 — Lost work days for medical patients were nearly ten times higher than for chiropractic patients.

 

• Washington State HMO Study… This 1989 study made two major points:
#1 —Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) patients were three times more likely to be satisfied with chiropractic care than with other types of care.
#2 — Many patients were more likely to believe their chiropractic doctors were concerned about them.

 

• Florida Workers’ Compensation Study… This 1988 study concludes:
#1 — a claimant with a back-related injury, when initially treated by a chiropractor versus a medical doctor, is less likely to become disabled.
#2 — If disabled, the chiropractic patient remains disabled for a shorter period of time.
#3 — Claimants treated by medical doctors were hospitalized at a much higher rate than claimants treated by chiropractors.

 

• New Zealand Commission Report… This 1980 report to the New Zealand House of Representatives concludes the following:
#1 —Modern chiropractic is a soundly-based and valuable branch of health care.
#2 — A chiropractic doctor’s manipulation of the spine is safe.
#3 — Chiropractic care can be effective for back pain and other symptoms such as migraine.
#4 — Professional cooperation between chiropractic doctors and medical doctors is encouraged.

 

• The Manga Report… This 1993 Canadian back pain study’s major findings:
#1 — Chiropractic adjustments for low back pain are more effective than other methods.
#2 — Chiropractic manipulation is safer than medical management of low back pain.
#3 — Chiropractic care was found less expensive than medical treatment.
#4 — Injured workers diagnosed with identical back trouble “returned to work much sooner when treated by chiropractors than by [medical] physicians.”
#5 — It appears back patients are far better satisfied with chiropractic care.

 

• U.S. Government Study… A 23-member government panel reviewed nearly 4,000 back pain studies and concluded that chiropractic’s method of spinal manipulation is a superior treatment to conventional medical treatments for low back pain. Obviously, the U..S. government took a pro-chiropractic position.
